About Me

This gift was not a real surprise.
I told my husband to order it for me.

I am Jackie.
I am 45 years old.

I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend.

I am an adult adoptee.
I am a motherless daughter.
I am a birth-daughter and birth-sister.
I am a bereaved mother to Gabriel, my angel in heaven.
I am an adoptive mother.
I am a PCOS patient and former infertility patient.

I am a stay-at-home mom to my two gifts from God. (ages 10 and 3)
I am a proud room mom for my son's class.
I am crafty and creative.
I am an avid viewer of shows on OWN that inspire me to "live my best life".
I am a lover of Oprah, Brene Brown, Iyanla Vanzant, and many other wise, soulful beings.
I am a student of life.
I am a writer - or so I tell myself.
I am a storyteller - that sounds less pompous to me than writer.
I am expressive, happy, silly, goofy, funny, fun-loving, affectionate, warm, optimistic, kind, resilient, and determined.
I am a deep thinker and a chronic daydreamer.
I am an organized hoarder of pictures, old letters, high school notes, birthday cards, and drawings from my kids.
I am still madly in-love with my husband after 24 years together.
I am a procrastinator.
I am a recovering perfectionist - in other words, I am imperfect and that's ok.
I am indecisive.
I am not spontaneous.
I am worthy.
I am enough.

I believe in forgiveness, compassion, and connection.
I believe that you can be scared and brave at the same time.
I believe in asking for help.
I believe in making a difference.
I believe that forgiveness and gratitude will lead me to joy.
I believe that everything happens for a reason and when it is supposed to happen.
I believe that there are no coincidences.
I believe that something good always comes out of the bad we experience.
I believe that every friendship, every relationship serves a purpose.
I believe that every human life is of equal value - regardless of race, religion, sexuality - we all bleed the same.
I believe in being authentic, vulnerable, and imperfect.
I believe in walking away from the To-Do List every once in a while.
I believe in embracing who I am.
I believe that I matter.
I believe in letting my light shine.
I believe in living life wholeheartedly.

I believe in Open Adoption.
I believe in Adult Adoptee's rights to unseal their closed adoption files.
I believe that infertility is an illness/disease that should be covered by all insurances.
I believe that living through my pregnancy loss and infertility were the most difficult experiences of my life.
I believe that I can survive the unsurvivable.
I believe that adoption is the greatest thing that ever happened to me as a daughter and as a mother.

I love to read but I love to write more.
I love to take pictures.
I love dogs - pugs especially.
I love collecting sea shells at the beach.
I love to dance but I love to sing more.
I love watching old home movies.
I love watching music videos.
I love to talk on the phone. Well, in all honestly, I just love to talk. Period.
I love to travel and visit new places.

I have good intuition.
I have great detective skills.
I have courage.

But more than all these things...I am on the path to finding joy in my life; forgiving the past; accepting what was isn't what always has to be; fulfilling my dreams; seeking my truth; opening my mind to change; experiencing deeper wisdom and clarity; connecting to my higher self; following my heart's desires; discovering my purpose; achieving my destiny.

(As as you can see from the photo above, I have an Oprah & Deepak Chopra meditation cd to help me reach these goals.)

    1. HA!!! Louise! I'm so excited and HAPPY because this is an official first for me. I haven't been invited to do anything like this yet. So...YAY! OK, I got some thinking to do. Fortunately, I'm pretty easy-going (these days) so a lot of simple things make me happy. Can't wait to play and read yours too!

Hello Dear Reader:

If you comment, I will buy you a cookie. Not really. But we can both pretend I gave you one. To get you started...what's your favorite kind of cookie? Mine is chocolate chip. I especially crave them when I'm PMS'ing.
